An Act authorizing electronic signatures on search warrant applications.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 2A of Chapter 276 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting before the first sentence, in line 1, the following words:- “The signature on the warrant  may be made by electronic signature.”

SECTION 2. Section 2B of Chapter 276 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “personally”, in line 2, the words:- “or through wire or electronic means”

SECTION 3. Section 2B of Chapter 276 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is further amended by inserting after the word “form,”, in line 13, the words:- “and the signature therein be made by electronic signature”.
