By Mr. Crighton, a petition (accompanied by bill) (subject to Joint Rule 12) of Brendan P. Crighton, Mindy Domb, Maria Duaime Robinson, Bud L. Williams and other members of the General Court for legislation to make Juneteenth Independence Day a State Holiday.  State Administration and Regulatory Oversight.

An Act to make Juneteenth Independence Day a state holiday.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Clause eighteen of Section 7 of Chapter 4 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2018 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting "June nineteenth," after "in May,".

SECTION 2. Chapter 136 Section 13 is hereby amended by inserting "June nineteenth" after "June seventeenth" in all instances.

Chapter 136 Section 16 is hereby amended by inserting "Juneteenth Independence Day," after "Memorial Day" in all instances.

SECTION 3. Section 15BBBBB of Chapter 6 is hereby amended by striking “the Sunday that is closest to”.
