An Act to increase penalties for shooting a firearm while on release.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 10 of chapter 269 of the General Laws, as amended by chapter 69 of the acts of 2018, is hereby further amended by inserting the following paragraph after 10 (o):

(p) Whoever discharges a weapon of which violates any provision found within section 10 of chapter 269, while that person is on release pursuant to sections 42A, 57, 58, 58A, 58B, 87 of chapter 276 or section 3A of chapter 211F, shall be further punished by imprisonment in a jail or house of correction for not more than two and one-half years or for not more than five years in state prison.
