An Act relative to strengthening the penalty for assault or assault and battery on an emergency medical technician, ambulance operator, ambulance attendant or health care provider.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 13I of Chapter 265 of the General Laws as appearing in the 2018 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in line 4, the words "treating or transporting a person". 

SECTION 2. Section 13I of Chapter 265 of the General Laws as appearing in the 2018 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 5 and 6, the words "house of correction for not less than 90 days nor more than 2 and one-half years or by a fine of not less than $500 nor more than $5,000, or both." and inserting in place thereof the following words: "state prison for not more than five years, or by imprisonment in a jail or house of correction for not more than two and one-half years."
