SECTION 1. Subsection (a) of Section 2 of Chapter 175M of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting the following new subsection after subsection (a)(2):
(3) Medical leave shall be available to any covered individual who is advised by a health care provider to self-quarantine due to his or her potential exposure to a pathogen for which a public health emergency has been declared by the Federal, State, or local authorities, regardless of whether the covered individual is symptomatic or asymptomatic. If one covered individual received advice from a health care provider that advised other members of their household to self-quarantine, the other covered individual in the household does not need to secure their own separate advice from a health care provider for coverage to self-quarantine under this subsection. The length of the quarantine shall be consistent with the guidance issued by the relevant Federal, State, or local authority regarding the health emergency. The 7 day waiting period for medical leave shall not be required.
