An Act relative to the Fairhaven Fire Department.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding chapter 31 of the General Laws or any other general or special law, charter, by-law, rule or regulation to the contrary, in order to be eligible for a civil service promotion to the rank of Fire Lieutenant within the Fire Department in the Town of Fairhaven, an applicant must have at least 3 years of service in the rank of firefighter or higher within a civil service fire department. A person who does not meet this requirement shall not be eligible to take a promotional examination for the position of Fire Lieutenant in the Fairhaven Fire Department. Except as otherwise provided herein, applicants for promotional appointments shall be subject to all applicable provisions of said chapter 31.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
