An Act relative to authorizing a cost of living increase for the employees of the Massachusetts State Legislature.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Chapter 3 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following section:

A. For the purposes of this section, the following terms will have the following meaning: “Legislative Employees,” shall mean employees working in the Massachusetts State House of Representatives and the Massachusetts State Senate as legislative personnel including but not limited to legislative aides, legislative directors, staff directors, chief of staffs, budget directors, committee staff, district aides, communication directors, officers and employees. 

B.Legislative employees shall be entitled to a 6% Cost of Living increase effective December 1, 2020. Starting on December 1, 2022, Legislative employees shall be entitled to a 6% bi-annual cost of living increase.

C. This Act shall take effect immediately.
