(2021-2022)

_______________

An Act relative to sales tax on certain items during the state of emergency due to COVID-19.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to establish forthwith a sales tax exemption for certain items during the state of emergency due to COVID-19, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Notwithstanding sections 2 and 6 of chapter 64H of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, face masks, face shields and hand sanitizer shall not be subject to excise tax imposed by said chapter 64 from the effective date of this act until the termination of the state of emergency declared by the governor on March 10, 2020.
