SECTION 1. Section 237 of chapter 112 of General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “professions”, in line 45, the following words:- ; provided further, that sheet metal work relative to privately negotiated jobs performed by a specialty contractor of Pre-Engineered Metal Building systems, as categorized within Division 13 – Special Construction by the Construction Specification Institute (CSI) – Master Format Section 13 34 19 and which include the installation, assembly, or integration of any water tight, pre-engineered or prefabricated metal building system, including structural members, structural roof systems, structural hydrostatic standing seam roofs, structural hydrostatic rib roofs or sidewall systems, on or into a pre-engineered metal building structure in accordance with manufacturer specifications are excluded from requiring the specialty contractor to possess a Sheet Metal Workers License.
SECTION 2. The board of examiners of sheet metal workers shall adopt rules and regulations relative to the practice of sheet metal work in accordance with this act on or before January 1, 2022.
