An Act relative to timely restitution payments.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. When a defendant is released from custody or probation and a restitution order has not been paid in full to a victim or family member as defined in section 1 of chapter 258B, the department of revenue shall collect the unpaid amount by withholding the wages of the offender. Any withholding of income shall take effect immediately when the offender is found in violation or contempt of an order of restitution, including default in payment or any installment of payment as ordered.
