An Act establishing an Overdose Awareness Day.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 6 of the General Laws, as so appearing in the 2018 official edition, is hereby amended by inserting after section 15IIIIII, the following section:-
Section 15JJJJJJ. The governor shall annually issue a proclamation setting apart August 31 as Overdose Awareness Day, in memory of the many lives lost to overdose in the Commonwealth and to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of substance use disorders and overdose, and recommending that the day be observed by lowering the flag of the Massachusetts State House to half-staff, and in an appropriate manner by the people.
