An Act to reduce the fee for motor vehicle veteran registration plates.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. The fifteenth paragraph of section 2 of said chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines, 418 through 421, inclusive, the sentence “There shall be an annual $20 fee for such "VETERAN'' plates in addition to the established registration fee for private passenger motor vehicles and motorcycles.” and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:-
“The fee for such “VETERAN” plates shall be the established registration fee for private passenger motor vehicles and motorcycles.”
SECTION 2. Notwithstanding any other general or special law, or regulation to the contrary, the fee for the issuance or renewal of distinctive motor vehicle registration plates bearing the word “VETERAN” under the fifteenth paragraph of section 2 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as amended by section 1 of this act, shall not be increased by any additional registration or special fees.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect 270 days after its passage.
