An Act relative to the sale of alcohol at retail.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Section 15 of Chapter 138 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding after the sixth paragraph, the following new paragraph: --

"The sale of alcoholic beverages by a licensee engaged in the sale of alcoholic beverages as so authorized under the provisions of this section shall be conducted through a face to face transaction between the customer and the licensee or by an authorized employee of the licensee who has attained the age of 18 years.  Automated or self-checkout for the sale of alcoholic beverages by a licensee engaged in the sale of alcoholic beverages as so authorized under the provisions of this section shall be prohibited. 

SECTION 2.  Nothing in this Act shall be construed as having any impact on the ability of licensees to engaged in the on-line or internet sale and delivery of alcoholic beverages in the Commonwealth."
