The committee on Public Service, to whom was referred the joint petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 2564) of Natalie M. Blais and Joanne M. Comerford (by vote of the town) the town of Whately be authorized to continue the employment of William Smith, a member of the fire department of said town, reports recommending that the accompanying bill (House, No. 3855) ought to pass.

An Act authorizing the town of Whately to continue the employment of fire department member William Smith.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, William Smith, a member of the fire department of the town of Whately, may continue in the position until he reaches 70 years of age or until his non-reappointment, whichever first occurs.
