An Act relative to eligibility for transitional aid to families with dependent children.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to establish forthwith new eligibility for transitional aid to families with dependent children, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 110 of chapter 5 of the acts of 1995 is hereby amended by striking out subsection (b), as appearing in section 62 of chapter 41 of the acts of 2019, and inserting in place thereof the following subsection:-

(b) A family shall not be denied assistance under this section based wholly or in part on the amount of the family’s assets; provided, however, that any income generated by such assets may be treated as countable income.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect as of July 1, 2021.
