An Act authorizing the town of West Stockbridge to continue the employment of Steven Traver.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, Steven Traver, chief of the fire department of the town of West Stockbridge, may continue to serve in that position, subject to approval by the select board, until June 30, 2023, the date of his retirement or the select board votes not to reappoint Steven Traver to this position, whichever occurs first, in accordance with all applicable laws; provided, however, that Steven Traver shall be mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of the position; provided further, that, if requested, Steven Traver shall be examined by an impartial physician designated by the select board to determine said capability; and, provided further, that deductions shall continue to be made from the regular compensation of Steven Traver pursuant to chapter 32 of the General Laws while Steven Traver is employed as chief of the fire department in accordance with all applicable laws.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
