SECTION 1. Section 1 of chapter 55 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2018 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the definition of “Legislative agent” the following definition:-
“Mobile electronic payment service”, a mobile phone application used for electronic cash payments and receipts, including, but not limited to, Google Pay, Intuit, PayPal, Skrill, Square, Stripe or Venmo.
SECTION 2. Section 9 of said chapter 55, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “cardholder”, in line 14, the following words:- or an electronic record created through the use of mobile electronic payment services linked to the committee’s depository account; provided, that the receipts from contributions made through mobile electronic payment services, or any other such software or applications that serve as a conduit for transferring money, comply with the provisions of section 2.
SECTION 3. Said section 9 of said chapter 55, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by inserting after the word “card”, in line 24, the following words:- or mobile electronic payment service account.
SECTION 4. Said section 9 of said chapter 55, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by inserting after the word “cards”, in line 33, the following words:- and mobile electronic payment services.
SECTION 5. Said section 9 of said chapter 55, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by inserting after the word “card”, in line 34, the following words:- and mobile electronic payment services.
