An Act relative to animal safety in motor vehicles aka Mollie’s Law.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 22H of Chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2018 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following:-

No person shall transport an animal inside a motor vehicle unless said animal being transported:

(1)Is kept in an enclosed area, including but not limited to a crate;

(2)Is under the physical control of a person other than the operator of the motor vehicle; or

(3)Is retrained by a harness or seat belt.

Violators of these provisions shall be punished by a fine of not less than $50.
