An Act relative to incumbent town meeting members in the town of Burlington.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 2(b) of Chapter 686 of the Acts of 1970, as most recently amended by Chapter 686 of the Acts of 2021, is hereby amended by striking out the third paragraph and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-
Any incumbent town meeting member may become a candidate for re-election by giving written notice thereof to the town clerk not later than twenty-one days prior to the last day and hour for filing nomination papers, provided the town meeting member has been in attendance for fifty percent or more of the individual days of town meeting held during their term of office, whether a quorum is present, or any business is conducted. Otherwise, the incumbent shall follow the same requirements as a non-incumbent candidate for town meeting.
