An Act relative to the amendment of section 2-8(b) and section 3-2(a) of the Home Rule Charter of the city of Methuen.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Subsection (b) of section 2-8 of the home rule charter of the city of Methuen is hereby amended by adding subsection (b)(1) immediately following subsection (b), as follows:
(b)(1) Assistant Clerk of the Council - The Assistant Clerk of the Council shall assist the Clerk of the Council in such duties as the Clerk determines, and shall perform the Clerk's duties should the Clerk be unavailable.
SECTION 2. Subsection (d) of section 2-8 of the home rule charter of the city of Methuen is hereby amended by inserting "Assistant Clerk of the Council" as follows:
(d) Salaries - The City Council shall set the salaries of the Fiscal Analyst, Clerk of the Council, Assistant Clerk of the Council, Mayor, and City Solicitor.
SECTION 3. Subsection (a) of section 3-2 of the home rule charter of the city of Methuen is hereby amended by inserting "Assistant Clerk of the Council" as follows:
(a) He/she shall supervise and direct the administration of all departments, commissions, boards and offices, except the City Council, the School Committee, the City Accountant, the City Solicitor, the Clerk of the Council, and the Assistant Clerk of the Council.
SECTION 4. The act shall take effect upon its passage.
