An Act to improve road safety in highway work zones.
Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to to improve road safety in highway work zones, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public safety.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 7E of said chapter 90, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “registrar”, in line 68, the following words:- , or (vii) a vehicle or equipment owned or used by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, established by section 2 of chapter 6C, in connection with maintenance or construction activities in highway work zones at which a law enforcement officer is present and only by the authority of a permit issued by the registrar,.
