An Act relative to school counselors.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) shall oversee a school counselors pilot program in Gateway Municipalities, as defined in Chapter 23A Section 3A, that adheres to the Massachusetts Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs that ensures all pre-K to grade 12 students will receive school counseling services from licensed school counselors. The school counselor pilot program shall provide one (1) school counselor for a maximum of two hundred fifty (250) students in participating pilot programs.
