An Act strengthening recovery high schools.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 91 of Chapter 71 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2018 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking subsection (a) and inserting in place thereof the following subsection:- (a) The term ''Recovery High School'' shall mean a public high school operated by a school district or educational collaborative specifically designed for students impacted by substance use, and/or mental health and trauma, that provides: (1) a comprehensive academic and social/emotional curriculum as outlined by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and (2) a structured plan of recovery.

SECTION 2. Section 91 as so appearing is hereby amended by striking out, in line 14, the word “IV-TR” and inserting in place thereof the following word:- “V”.
