An Act relative to negligent and reckless driving.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 24 of Chapter 90 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding, after subsection (2)(a) the following new subsection:-

(2)(b) Whoever upon any way or in any place to which the public has a right of access, or any place to which members of the public have access as invitees or licensees, operates a motor vehicle recklessly, or operates such a vehicle negligently, where such operation results in serious bodily injury or death, shall be punished by confinement to a state prison for no more than ten years, and by a loss of their license to operate motor vehicles for a minimum of five years after such confinement.
