An Act relative to dentistry licensure examinations.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter 112 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2018 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out section 47 and inserting in place thereof the following section:—

Section 47. The examination may be written or oral or both, at the option of the board, and may include the principal subjects taught in reputable dental colleges. Demonstrations in operative and prosthetic dentistry, diagnosis and prognosis may be required; provided, however, that the examination shall not require the performance of any procedure upon a live patient.

SECTION 2. Not later than July 1, 2021, the board of registration in dentistry shall approve an examination that does not require the performance of any procedure upon a live patient. Until such time, the board shall continue to approve the current examination including the performance of an irreversible procedure upon a live patient.
