An Act relative to color coded patient wristbands.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. The department of public health shall analyze and file a report on the standards for uniformity in the use of color-coded patient wristbands by health care providers in the Commonwealth. The report shall examine: (i) the current state of patient identification in the Commonwealth; (ii) the use of color-coded wristbands in other jurisdictions; and (iii) any adverse impacts to patient care. The department shall make recommendations based on its findings and file a report with the joint committee on public health, the joint committee on health care financing, the clerks of the house of representatives and senate and the house and senate committees on ways and means no later than January 1, 2022.
