An Act establishing Massachusetts Freedom Day.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 6 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 15LLLLLL the following section:-
Section 15MMMMMM. The governor shall annually issue a proclamation setting apart the Tuesday next after the first Monday in the month of November as Massachusetts Freedom Day and recommending that it be observed by the people, with appropriate exercises in the schools and otherwise, to celebrate free and fair elections, which are the cornerstone of a vibrant, successful democracy, by protecting the freedom to vote for all residents of the commonwealth.
