An Act protecting broadband access in the Commonwealth.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 124F of Chapter 164 of the general laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding the following new paragraph:-
No broadband company, as defined in section 6B, chapter 40J of the general laws, shall between September first and June thirtieth shut off broadband service to any residential customer who cannot pay an overdue charge because of financial hardship, when broadband service is used to provide internet access and wireless internet access. The department may promulgate such rules and regulations consistent with this section as it deems reasonable and necessary to implement the provision of this section.
