An Act promoting safety by permitting municipalities to reduce speed limits.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
The first sentence of section 18 of chapter 90 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after the word “control” the following words:- ; and provided further, that in setting a speed regulation, the city council, the transportation commission of the city of Boston, the board of selectmen, park commissioners, or the traffic commission or traffic director of a city or town may reduce the limit determined as reasonable and proper by the department by 5 miles per hour.
