An Act amending the town of Sutton Home Rule Charter.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. The table of contents of the charter of the town of Sutton, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth, as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the general laws, is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen” in every instance in which they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “Select Board.”

SECTION 2. Section 1-4 of article 1 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 3. Section 1-7 of article 1 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in the definition of “Town bulletin board” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 4. Subsection (b) of section 2-3 of article 2 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in each instance in which they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 5. Subsection (c) of section 2-3 of article 2 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the word “chairman” and replacing it with the word “chair.”

SECTION 6. The first sentence of section 2-5 of article 2 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in each instance in which they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 7. The first sentence of section 2-6 of article 2 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 8. Subsection (a) of section 2-7 of article 2 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 9. Subsection (b) of section 2-7 of article 2 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in each instance in which they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 10. Subsection (c) of section 2-7 of article 2 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in each instance in which they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 11. Subsection (a) of section 3-1 of article 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 12. Subsection (e) of section 3-1 of article 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 13. Subsection (f)(1) of section 3-1 of article 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in each instance in which it appears and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 14. Subsection (f)(2) of section 3-1 of article 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen” in the subtitle and inserting in place thereof the words “Select Board,” and by striking out the words “a selectman” and inserting in place thereof the words “the select board,” and by striking out the word “selectmen” in each instance in which it appears and inserting in place thereof the words “select board members,” and by striking out the word “selectman” in each instance in which it appears and inserting in place thereof the word “select board member,” and by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in each instance in which they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 15. Subsection (g)(2) of section 3-1 of article 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 16. Subsection (g)(3) of section 3-1 of article 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in each instance in which they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 17. The title of section 3-2 of article 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “BOARD OF SELECTMEN” and inserting in place thereof the words “SELECT BOARD.”

SECTION 18. The first sentence of subsection (a) of section 3-2 of article 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 19. Subsection (b) of section 3-2 of article 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in each instance in which they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 20. The first sentence of subsection (c) of section 3-2 of article 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 21. The first sentence of subsection (d) of section 3-2 of article 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 22. The first sentence of subsection (a) of section 3-6 of article 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 23. The second sentence of subsection (a) of section 3-7 of article 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 24. The second, fourth, and fifth sentences of section 4-1 of article 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in each instance in which they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 25. The first sentence of section 4-2 of article 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in each instance in which they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 26. Subsection (b) of section 4-2 of article 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in each instance in which they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 27. Subsection (e) of section 4-2 of article 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 28. Subsection (f) of section 4-2 of article 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 29. Subsection (g) of section 4-2 of article 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in each instance in which they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 30. Subsection (m) of section 4-2 of article 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 31. Subsection (q) of section 4-2 of article 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 32. Subsection (r) of section 4-2 of article 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 33. The first sentence of section 4-3 of article 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 34. Subsection (a) of section 4-4 of article 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 35. Subsection (b) of section 4-4 of article 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in each instance in which they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 36. Subsection (c) of section 4-4 of article 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 37. The first sentence of section 4-5 of article 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 38. Subsection (a) of section 4-5 of article 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 39. Subsection (b) of section 4-5 of article 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in each instance in which they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 40. Subsection (c) of section 4-5 of article 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in each instance in which they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 41. Subsection (c) of section 5-1 of article 5 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in each instance in which they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 42. The first sentence of section 6-3 of article 6 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 43. The second sentence of section 6-4 of article 6 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 44. The first sentence of section 6-7 of article 6 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 45. The third sentence of section 6-8 of article 6 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the word “chairman” and inserting in place thereof the word “chair” and by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 46. Subsection (A)(2) of section 7-4 of article 7 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” in each instance in which they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 47. Subsection (A)(3)(ii) of section 7-4 of article 7 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 48. Subsection (A)(3)(iii) of section 7-4 of article 7 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the words “select board.”

SECTION 49. Subsection (a) of section 7-6 of article 7 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the word “chairman” in each instance in which it appears and inserting in place thereof the word “chair.”

SECTION 50. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
