An Act authorizing the town of Tewksbury to change the name of its Board of Selectmen to Select Board.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. The charter of the town of Tewksbury, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth, as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by replacing the terms “board of selectmen”, “board” or “selectmen”, appearing in a context where reference is made to the entire board of selectmen, with the following term:- select board.

SECTION 2. Said charter is hereby further amended to replace any reference to individual members of the board of selectmen with the following term:- select board member.

SECTION 3. Said charter is hereby further amendment to replace and reference to the chairman with the following term:- chair.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
