An Act renaming the Board of Selectmen in the town of Cohasset to the Select Board and making certain other related gender-neutral changes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Section 2 of chapter 34 of the acts of 1997, as appearing in section 1 of chapter 3 of the acts of 2014, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:-  select board.

SECTION 2.  Subsection (i) of said section 2 of said chapter 34, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by striking out the word “selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:-  select board.

SECTION 3.  Section 3 of said chapter 34, as appearing in section 2 of chapter 3 of the acts of 2014, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 4.  Subsection (A) of said section 3 of said chapter 34, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by striking out the words “boards of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:-  select boards.5

SECTION 5.  Section 4 of said chapter 34, as appearing in section 3 of  chapter 3 of the act of 2014, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:-  select board.

SECTION 6.  Section 5 of said chapter 34, as appearing in section 4 of said chapter 3, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:-  select board.

SECTION 7.  Section 5A of said chapter 34, inserted by said section 4 of said chapter 3, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:-  select board.

SECTION 8.  Section 5B of said chapter 34, as so inserted, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof the following words:-  select board.

SECTION 9.  Section 5C of said chapter 34, as so inserted, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof the following words:-  select board.

SECTION 10.  Subsection (i) of said section 5C of said chapter 34, as so inserted, is hereby amended by striking out the word “chairman”, each time it appears, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:-  chairperson.

SECTION 11.  Subsection (a) of section 5D of said chapter 34, as so inserted, is hereby amended by striking out the word “selectmen’s” and inserting in place thereof the following words:-  select board’s.

SECTION 12.  Said section 5D of said chapter 34, as so inserted, is hereby further amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:-  select board.

SECTION 13.  Section 5E of said chapter 34, as so inserted, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:-  select board.

SECTION 14.  Section 6 of said chapter 34 is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:-  select board.

SECTION 15.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.”
