An Act relative to the primary care workforce development and loan repayment grant program at community health centers.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Chapter 111 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2018 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out section 25N¾ and inserting in place thereof the following section:-

Section 25N¾. (a) There shall be established a primary care workforce development and loan forgiveness grant program at community health centers for the purpose of enhancing recruitment and retention of primary care physicians and other clinicians at community health centers throughout the commonwealth. The grant program shall be administered by the department of public health; provided, that the department may contract with an organization to administer the grant program. This program shall ensure the continuation of state-level loan repayment for clinicians at community health centers.

(b) The program shall be funded through expenditures from the Health Care Workforce Transformation Fund, established in section 2FFFF of chapter 29 of the General Laws.
