An Act relative to adjusting the senior circuit breaker.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Paragraph (1) of subsection (k) of section 6 of chapter 62 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting the following new definition:-

“free Medicare Part A non-eligibility” – payments by individuals to obtain Medicare Part A insurance due to non-eligibility for free Medicare Part A.

SECTION 2. Paragraph (2) of subsection (k) of said section 6 of said chapter 62, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by inserting, after the words “constituting real estate tax payment” the following new words:- plus previous calendar year payment for Medicare Part A resulting from free Medicare Part A non-eligibility.

SECTION 3. Paragraph (3) of subsection (k) of said section 6 of chapter 62 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the numbers “$600,000” the following words:- or the average value of a single family home in the municipality as determined by the local Assessor for the previous fiscal year, whichever is greater.
