An Act relative to voluntary third-party notification of end of treatment for alcohol and substance use.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Clause (7) of section 19 of chapter 17 of the General Laws, as added by chapter 52 of the acts of 2016, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “risks” the following words:- ; and (8)  upon admission provide the patient with forms for the patient’s consideration that include:  (i) a health care proxy for the patient’s signature as provided for in chapter 201; and (ii) the designation of a contact to be informed when the patient is: (A) discharged; (B) checks out or leaves the facility or (C) the patient has harmed themselves or threatened to harm themselves.
