Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary and unless otherwise provided in an employment contract, if any city, town or political subdivision of the commonwealth employs a peace officer and said peace officer is hired by another city, town or political subdivision of the commonwealth within 12 months after completing mandated or formalized training requirements, then the total expense of training, including salary paid during training, shall be reimbursed by the hiring city, town, or political subdivision of the commonwealth to the city, town, or political subdivision of the commonwealth which provided for said peace officer's training.
