An Act relative to urgent care centers and MassHealth patients.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 111 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after section 51K the following new section:
Section 51L. The department shall promulgate all rules and regulations necessary regarding the definition of and licensing procedures for urgent care centers; provided, that the new rules and regulations ensure residents enrolled in MassHealth shall not require a referral from a primary care provider, as defined in section 1, to obtain services or care from an urgent care center.
