An Act relative to a cost of living adjustment for retired judges.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Chapter 32 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after Section 65J the following section: -

Section 65k. All justices of the supreme judicial court, appeals court and the several departments of the trial court, who have reached the mandatory retirement age of 70 under the Massachusetts Constitution, Part II, c.3 article 1, as amended by the Article 98 of the Amendments, shall be entitled to an adjustment to their annual pension; and said pension shall be increased at the same rate of increase, if any, as the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Workers for the Northeast Region commencing on July 1, 2024, and every year thereafter.
