An Act relative to confidential plates for certain members of the judiciary.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 2 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2018 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the last paragraph, in line 663, the following paragraph:-
“The registrar, pursuant to its authority established under this section, shall furnish upon approval of an application by the registry to a justice or retired justice of the supreme judicial court, appeals court or trial court a confidential registration plate for use upon the private passenger vehicle registered to that individual. If the registrar denies an application for issuance of a confidential registration plate for said entities, the registrar shall provide the applicant with (i) a letter detailing the reasons for denial of the application; (ii) instructions on how to submit an appeal of the decision regarding the denial of the application; and (iii) an explanation of the appeals process.”.
