An Act relative to reviving the special legislative commission established to study and examine the civil service law.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to revive and continue the special legislative commission established to study and examine the civil service law, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.  The special legislative commission established in section 107 of chapter 253 of the acts of 2020 to study and examine the civil service law, is hereby revived. Appointing authorities shall appoint commission members as required by subsection (b) of said section. The commission shall supplement its report of March 30th, 2022 with further recommendations, together with any draft legislation necessary to carry those recommendations into effect, by filing the same with the governor, the speaker of the house of representatives and the president of the senate and the clerks of the house of representatives and the senate not later than May 31, 2024.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
