An Act relative to certain manufactured chemicals known as PFAS.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Chapter 21C of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 6 the following section:-

Section 6A. The department shall establish such regulations concerning the collection, storage, treatment, use or disposal of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances as it deems necessary to protect public health, safety and welfare and the environment.

SECTION 2. Section 6 of chapter 29C of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following subsection:-

(i) The board shall apply and disburse monies to any public water system, as defined in 310 CMR 22.02, that reports a per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances contaminant level exceeding the maximum contaminant level established in 310 CMR 22.07G.
