An Act relative to formalizing the category of endangered species.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 1 of chapter 131A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the definition of “Director” the following definition:-
“Division”, the division of fisheries and wildlife.
SECTION 2. Said chapter 131A, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by adding the following section:-
Section 8. There shall be within the division a Habitat Conservation Plan for Piping Plover municipal technical assistance and monitoring program. Subject to appropriation, the program shall be administered by the division to provide technical assistance and monitors to municipalities to conduct compliance monitoring and to ensure ongoing recreational activities pursuant to the division’s Habitat Conservation Plan for Piping Plover. The director, or the director’s designee, shall respond to all requests for assistance or monitors made under the provisions of the program within 15 days of the receipt of such requests.
