An Act relative to higher education incentives for municipal employees.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Chapter 15A of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 19E the following section:-

Section 19F. Subject to appropriation, a municipal employee, as defined in section 1 of chapter 268A, shall be eligible for any tuition benefit reimbursement program available to an employee of the commonwealth, based on their employment by the commonwealth, at an institution that is part of the system of public institutions of higher education listed in the first paragraph of section 5. The tuition benefit program shall only be available to a municipal employee who otherwise meets the eligibility requirements applicable to an employee of the commonwealth.

Consistent with the provisions of this section, the board of higher education may establish general guidelines and regulations for the application and administration this section.
