An Act relative to the maximum age requirement for original appointment as a police officer for the town of Dedham.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding sections 58 and 58A of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, no person shall be eligible to have their name certified for original appointment to the position of a police officer in the town of Dedham if such person has reached their fortieth birthday on the date of the entrance examination under chapter 31 of the General Laws. Any veteran shall be allowed to exceed the maximum age provision set forth herein by the number of years served on active military duty, but in no case shall said candidate for an appointment is credited more than four years of active military duty.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage or take any other action relative thereto.
