An Act authorizing the town of Richmond to continue the employment of Steven Traver as fire chief.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, Steven Traver, chief of the fire department of the town of Richmond, may continue to serve in his position, subject to approval by the select board of the town of Richmond, until June 30, 2025, the date of his retirement or until the select board votes not to reappoint him to this position, whichever occurs first; provided, however, that he is mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of his position. The select board may require that Steven Traver be examined by an impartial physician designated by the select board to determine his mental and physical capability. Deductions shall continue to be made from the regular compensation of Steven Traver under chapter 32 of the General Laws, while he is employed as chief of the fire department of the town of Richmond in accordance with all applicable laws.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
