An Act amending the charter of the town of Swampscott.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 2-1 of chapter 2 of the charter of the town of Swampscott, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth, as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out the word “selectmen”, each time it appears, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 2. Said section 2-1 of said chapter 2 of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 3. Section 2-2 of said chapter 2 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 4. Section 2-3 of said chapter 2 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the word “selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 5. Said section 2-3 of said chapter 2 of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 6. The first paragraph of section 2-6 of said chapter 2 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the word “selectmen”, each time it appears, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 7. The last paragraph of said section 2-6 of said chapter 2 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 8. Subsection (b) of section 2-9 of said chapter 2 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 9. Section 3-1 of chapter 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “Board of Selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- Select Board.

SECTION 10. Said section 3-1 of said chapter 3 of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 11. Section 3-2A of said chapter 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 12. Subsection (b) of Section 3-3 of said chapter 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 13. Subsection (b) of section 3-4 of said chapter 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 14. Subsection (c) of said section 3-4 of said chapter 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 15. Subsection (c) of section 3-5 of said chapter 3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 16. Subsection (g) of section 4-1 of chapter 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 17. Subsection (h) of said section 4-1 of said chapter 4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 18. Chapter 5 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the title and inserting in place thereof the following title:- SELECT BOARD.

SECTION 19. Subsection (a) of section 5-1 of said chapter 5 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 20. Subsection (b) of said section 5-1 of said chapter 5 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 21. Subsection (c) of said section 5-1 of said chapter 5 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 22. Subsection (d) of said section 5-1 of said chapter 5 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 23. Subsection (e) of said section 5-1 of said chapter 5 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 24. Section 5-2 of said chapter 5 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 25. Clause (xx) of said section 5-2 of said chapter 5 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 26. Section 6-1 of chapter 6 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 54. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
