SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, but subject to sections 1 through 16 inclusive of chapter 6E of the General Laws, a police officer who has served not less than 20 years of continuous, full-time service in the police department of the town of Hudson, terminated such service in good standing and retired based on superannuation may be appointed as a special police officer and may work with the town of Hudson until reaching the age of 70; provided, however, that any such officer so appointed shall comply with all requirements of chapter 6E of the General Laws, including (i) maintaining certification and good standing with the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission and (ii) complying with all annual in-service and other training requirements mandated by the municipal police training committee, and further shall abide by the rules and regulations promulgated by the police department, including firearm qualification and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)/automated external defibrillator (AED) and first responder training.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
