An Act authorizing Sheila Commisso to purchase creditable service from the Massachusetts teachers’ retirement board.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding chapter 32 of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, the Massachusetts teachers’ retirement board shall credit Sheila Commisso, a member of the Massachusetts teachers’ retirement system, with creditable service for her previous employment as a teacher at Cathedral High School in the city of Springfield between 1988 and 1998 for the purpose of determining her superannuation retirement allowance. The retirement system shall confirm exact dates of employment with Sheila Commisso and the school.

SECTION 2. Eligibility for this creditable service shall be conditioned upon payment by Sheila Commisso to the Massachusetts teachers’ retirement system, in an amount equal to that which would have been withheld as regular deductions from her regular compensation for such previous service, in one lump sum or installments, as the Massachusetts teachers’ retirement board shall proscribe.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
