Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding chapter 32 of the General Laws or section 2 of chapter 415 of the acts of 1987 or any other general or special law to the contrary, police officers of the Town of Milford Police Department who would be subject to mandatory retirement on the last day of the month in which they turn 65 years old, upon retirement, may continue to serve as special police officers until the age of 70, provided, however, that no deductions from compensation shall be made under said chapter 32 subsequent to the employee reaching the age of 65; and provided further, that the employee is mentally and physically fit and capable of performing the duties of the office. The Town may, at the employee’s own expense, before service as a special police officer, require that the employee be examined by an impartial physician designated by the Town to determine such capability.
