An Act incentivizing the use of public transportation by jurors.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Chapter 234A of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 55 the following section:-

SECTION 55A

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

Section 1.   For days in which a juror actually appeared as directed to perform juror service, a juror shall be entitled to the use of services provided by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority or any regional transit authority, as established by Chapter 161B Section 3 of the General Laws, without suffering any monetary loss.

Section 2.  The benefit established in this section shall not be issued by means of reimbursement issued by the courts of the Office of Jury Commissioner.
